Kellie Cleveland, DDS

Where did you grow-up and what is special about your home town?

​I grew up in Arlington, Texas. Arlington has become quite the destination as the home of the Rangers, Cowboys, Six Flags and Hurricane Harbor.

Why did you decide to become a dentist?

I have always loved science and knew I wanted to go into health care. In college I started observing dentists and it felt like the path I wanted to take.

Where did you go to dental school and when did you graduate?

I graduated in 2004 from Baylor College of Dentistry (now Texas A&M College of Dentistry).

Who is/was your mentor?

My uncle who is still a practicing dentist in Arlington.

What is your favorite dental instrument? Why?

Birtles Applicator, because it has a funny name.

How do you like to relax?

Working out is my relaxing time.

What do you consider to be your greatest achievement?

​I have found a happy balance between family and business.

What do you most look forward to doing in retirement?

look forward to traveling with my family and having the time to develop other passions and hobbies.

What is the biggest challenge facing dentistry?

The influx of corporate dentistry.

What is the best advice you’ve received for your career?

Treat patients just like you would want to be treated. I do.

How do you make practicing dentistry fun?

I enjoy the relationships I have built and the conversations I have with my patients. It’s a nice break from the clinical/managerial responsibilities of the day.

What advice would you share with someone looking to purchase their first practice?

Ownership can have it’s challenges, but it’s worth it!
